How to Make Aloo Tikkis (Indian potato croquettes)

an all-time favorite street food snack.

It’s easy to make, packs just the right amount of heat and goes along perfectly with a chai or with a cocktails or glass of wine at happy hour!




Aloo Tikki Recipe
(6-8 croquettes)

ingredients

  • 6 medium-sized potatoes

  • 2 tbsp. corn starch

  • 1 tbsp. cumin powder

  • 1 tsp. amchoor (dried mango powder or lemon juice)

  • 5-7 cashew nuts 1 tsp. black pepper

  • 1 tsp. red pepper (or to taste)

  • 4-5 tbsp. vegetable oil

  • 1/2 tsp. salt (or to taste)

preparation

  1. Boil the potatoes until tender.

  2. Cool, peel, and mash in a large bowl.

  3. Add corn starch,, spices, and salt to the mashed potatoes and mix well.

  4. With oiled hands, form the mixture into flattened rounds.

  5. In a nonstick frying pan, heat 2 tbsp. of oil over medium high heat.

  6. Gently place the croquettes in the pan. Fry on both sides until golden brown.

  7. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

  8. Add additional oil and fry the next batch.

  9. Enjoy with spicy green chutney (recipe in our ecookbook, link below!)
